Procedure for checking air pressure in tanks

If your pump kicks on and off rapidly, you have low water pressure, breaker trips occasionally, lights flicker in the house when pump is turned on, or you just want to make sure the air pressure is correct then the following procedure will be a great help.

1.TURN OFF POWER
2.TURN OFF VALVE ON STORAGE TANK (OPTIONAL)
3.TURN ON TAP AT HOUSE
4.WHEN NO WATER COMES OUT OF THE TAP
5.CHECK AIR IN TANK WITH A TYRE PRESSURE GAUGE
6.PUMP AIR INTO TANK
7.AIR PRESSURE = 14 KPA (2 PSI)
 BELOW THE CUT IN POINT
 APPROX 140 - 170 KPA (20 - 25 PSI) ON THE AVERAGE H/HOLD SYSTEM
8.TURN ON THE VALVE AT THE TANK
9.TURN PUMP ON
10.CHECK WATER IS COMING OUT OF THE TAP
11.TURN TAP OFF
12.WAIT UNTIL THE PUMP HAS TURNED OFF
13.TURN ON TAP AGAIN
14.TURN TAP OFF
15.WAIT UNTIL THE PUMP HAS TURNED OFF
16.TURN ON TAP AGAIN
17.TURN TAP OFF
ie carry out steps 15-17 3 times
Note : If all the taps are turned off, then the pump should not come on.
Pumps may turn off and on whilst toilet/s fill up.
When all taps are turned off, ie no water being used, the pump should not come on.
